It’s four down, four to go in the regional semifinal round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament as the Thursday action in the Sweet 16 is in the rearview. We’re halfway to narrowing down the field for this year’s Elite Eight, and if Thursday’s Sweet 16 action was any indication, we should be in for quite a treat on Friday to wrap-up the regional semifinals. The four-game Friday slate features the only two No. 1 seeds left standing, a Cinderella-hopeful in No. 15 seed Princeton and an even matchup late between an elite offensive team in Xavier and an elite defensive team in Texas. Buckle up.
Friday’s action tips at 6:30 p.m. ET with No. 1 overall seed Alabama kicking things off on TBS in a Sweet 16 tilt with No. 5 seed San Diego State in arguably the most fun stylistic matchup. Alabama plays with the fastest pace among teams in the field and draws the slowest-paced team remaining in SDSU, which relies on its defense. It’ll get a big test against the best offense still standing in the Tide.
No. 1 seed Houston and No. 5 seed Miami are on deck second Friday as the finale of the early evening slate. The night will then finish with a doubleheader that will blend together on multiple networks first with Princeton-Creighton on TBS and finishing with Texas-Xavier on CBS.
