College basketball transfer portal rankings 2023: North Texas star Tylor Perry commits to Kansas State

Kansas State made a major addition to its 2023-24 roster on Tuesday, when former North Texas guard Tylor Perry announced his commitment to the Wildcats. Perry, the Conference USA Player of the Year, ranks No. 12 in the CBS Sports Transfer Rankings and should help K-State replace the departing production of Markquis Nowell, who helped guide the Wildcats to the Elite Eight in coach Jerome Tang’s first season.

At 5-foot-11, Perry is an undersized lead guard much like Nowell, though he is less of a distributor than Nowell. Where Perry shines is as a perimeter shooter as he drilled 41.3% of his attempts from beyond the arc while leading the Mean Green to an NIT title to cap the 2022-23 season. Perry averaged 17.3 points per game for the season and shot 87.2% from the free-throw line. He chose K-State over Florida, Ole Miss and Texas Tech.

Perry will have two seasons of eligibility remaining and should immediately slide into a starting role for Kansas State as the program looks to build on the momentum of a successful debut campaign for Tang. The final makeup of K-State’s 2023-24 roster remains in flux as starters Keyontae Johnson and Nae’Qwan Tomlin go through the NBA’s pre-draft process. If both return, they would combine with Perry to give Tang a solid nucleus heading into next season. Cam Carter and David N’Guessan, both key rotational pieces from the 2022-23 roster, are also expected to return.

Well over 1,000 Division I players have entered the portal and plenty of player movement is ahead before 2023-24 rosters will be settled. Here at CBS Sports, we have distilled the massive number of transfers to a list of the top 45 names to know. This list will evolve and player rankings will change as the May 11 deadline for players to enter the portal approaches.
