The Brooklyn Nets are transitioning out of an era in which they were regarded as championship because of the acquisitions of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden over the past few seasons. Now that all of those players are in different places, there is someone who believes that Durant should have gone somewhere else in the summer of 2019.
During a recent episode of ESPN’s NBA Today show, Marc J. Spears of ESPN and Andscape said that he thought that Durant should have went to the New York Knicks instead of the Nets during his free-agency that offseason. While saying that, Spears did acknowledge that the reasons that Durant did not choose the Knicks was because of their recent history as a dysfunctional organization.
Durant, 34, played for the Nets from 2019 (despite not playing in the 2019-20 season due to an Achilles injury) to this past February when he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. Durant’s highlight in Brooklyn was leading the team to the second round of the playoffs, first time the organization did that since the 2013-14 campaign, before losing to the eventual champion Milwaukee Bucks 4-3.
